This grant supports a multi-disciplinary research project using tested social science methodologies to examine the scale and implications of three major trends: the patterns, growth, and dynamics of the major religious traditions throughout the world; the ways religious beliefs and practices help shape perceptions of people’s lives and societies around the globe; and the ways and extent to which the practice of religion is restricted by governments and nongovernmental entities across different societies.
