'Unbelievable? Bridging the Gap' is a project produced by Premier Christian Radio's flagship UK radio discussion show and podcast 'Unbelievable?', in partnership with John Templeton Foundation. In the past two decades a 'conflict' narrative between science and faith, reason and religion, has emerged in popular Western culture. Conversations matter, but the tone of the dialogue has been shrill and hectoring. A chasm has developed between a shallow view of religion in secular society and the intellectually robust answers Christianity and other religious perspectives offer. During 2018/2019 'Unbelievable?' sought to build bridges of understanding across this divide through 'The Big Conversation' - a series of video discussion between leading thinkers. Now, in a 3-year project led by show host Justin Brierley, the programme will continue to build on this foundation. 3 further seasons of The Big Conversation will bring influential thinkers from atheist, Christian and other religious world-views together to debate the biggest questions in science, philosophy and faith. Subjects will include: The rise of AI and robotics, the origins of life, consciousness and neuroscience, religion and conflict, evolution and morality, miracles and materialism. In addition, 3 seasons of a complementary 'Big Questions' series will make bite-sized, thought-provoking video content available on key issues. These 'conversation starters' will be the gateway towards further exploration of faith and belief through small group resources and meet-up groups. All these resources will be reflected through video, podcasts, radio, magazine, app and websites along with a comprehensive social media campaign to raise awareness of the issues. Unbelievable? Bridging The Gap will make a significant impact in modelling the art of good conversation for a culture that needs to learn anew the harmony that exists between, science, faith, reason and religion.
