How can anyone—especially Gen-Z and Gen-Alpha—flourish amid a polycrisis? Daily, young people are confronted with the promise (and threat) of total A.I. revolution and seismic shifts in democratic norms, economic conditions and cultural values. Each can be dehumanizing on its own. Together, they represent an existential challenge for traditions to which people have long turned for guidance, be they religious, spiritual or longstanding secular ethical traditions. A simple question becomes radical and central to our project: What does it mean to be human now?

Staying Human is a 15-episode podcast project about what it means to live an ethical, meaningful and successful life amid extreme changes in tech, culture and values. Together with Greg Epstein, humanist chaplain at Harvard & MIT, Staying Human will address these challenges from a humanist lens, welcoming dialogue with religious and spiritual leaders, researchers and academics. Using clips of our episodes, social media, and a dedicated newsletter, we aim to offer young adults tools to feel prepared and empowered to find their paths to flourishing. Centrally, Staying Human asks what it means to have faith—in ourselves, each other, and common humanity—at a time when it's hard to imagine what our individual and collective futures hold.
