Integrating knowledge on society’s most complex issues is a skill rarely nurtured in modern academia. Most people do not understand the values and institutions that have made our civilization possible. Where did the idea of freedom come from? How was it that such an unlikely idea triumphed? What is needed to foster it further?
In order to pass on values that will continue to live in the next generation, a deep understanding of their role in society is needed. The exploration of such ideas is a responsibility most universities have forfeited entirely. But it is not just about having the right ideas, an institutional design is needed, too. The challenge is how can we overcome the twisted incentives that prevail in modern academia to create a vibrant, and truly multidisciplinary PPE university environment? By establishing a PPE center in a silo-free university, offering online accredited PPE BA-MA-PhD degrees and research initiatives.
We can create a lighthouse for PPE and a harbor in which to bring together international students and researchers, with a special impact all over Iberoamerica.
