Recent developments in quantum gravity indicate that our conventional notions of space and time are only approximations. This obliges us to change in depth our understanding of the spatio-temporal aspects of the universe. This project addresses this deep issue in the context of the loop theory of quantum gravity. Using this theory, we want to understand how to think of reality if time is ill-defined at the fundamental level and space only emerges from gravity. We expect to be able to develop a coherent interpretation of the theory and show that it is possible to understand our world without considering notions of space and time as fundamental. We think that these will disappear from fundamental physics like many other notions previously considered fundamental (for instance the notions of 'up' and 'down' or 'center of the world').
