Over two years, this project will bring a group of unique Christian thought leaders together annually to cross-fertilize ideas to inform their work for social and cultural renewal. The central deliverables will be two annual convenings of the Senior Fellows of the Trinity Forum, drawn from such fields as law, history, visual arts, psychiatry, medical ethics, journalism, literature, music and philosophy. We anticipate downstream effects of these gatherings through increased interdisciplinary collaboration and cross-fertilization around a variety of “Big Questions.”
The themes planned for the gatherings are “Virtue, Meaning, and Flourishing,” and “Thinking Faithfully: Intellectual Virtue and Humility Amidst Cynicism, Dogmatism, and Nihilism.” At each gathering, through curated and informal conversations, the Senior Fellows will share ideas across disciplines and catalyze collaborations. They will engage in workshops to create and refine initiatives around these themes, which they will then pursue over time -- both in interdisciplinary collaboration, and in their respective sectors.
These dialogues seek first to help this group become a genuine, committed community, then to plant seeds of collaboration and mutual formation among them, and then to widen that circle to connect their networks. The ultimate impact will be the development of a vital ecosystem and public engagement of a dynamic group of faith thought leaders influencing the broader cultural conversation toward the common good. The Senior Fellows are in a position to drive this impact because they bring deep intellectual resources of the faith to bear on the Big Questions in ways that are visible, influential, broadly accessible, and pluralistic (including through our podcast). The initial phase of convenings of the Senior Fellows has shown the potential to be catalytic, and this project will enable a new era of community-building, collaboration, expansion of networks, and needed social and cultural impact.
