Doha Debates is planning to produce a town hall debate in Doha, Qatar, that will tackle the subject of free will. We will curate a panel of distinguished guests to engage with around 20 students for a lively and intellectually challenging discussion. The debate will be held in front of a live, local audience. The debate will then be published to our social channels, where Doha Debates has a combined audience of over 6 million followers. Accompanying educational curricula around the debate topic will also be created and made available to global educators and students.
Town halls have measurable impact. Post-event surveys indicate that participants leave feeling more informed and empowered to take action on the issues discussed. Meanwhile, town halls consistently receive positive feedback and recognition from participants, viewers, and our partners, who appreciate the opportunity to engage in thoughtful discourse and the emphasis on youth-driven discussions.
Harsh Gohil, a medicine student at Weill Cornell Medicine-Qatar and town hall participant, says, "“Town Halls enable the upcoming generation to exchange diverse opinions and perspectives with experts in the field in an open space. I find that very meaningful.”
Our town halls encourage participants to engage in meaningful and respectful dialogue, aligning with JTF’s goal to promote civil discourse and understanding across different viewpoints, fostering a culture of intellectual humility and facilitating impactful engagement.
Our town halls are also complemented by educational content and programming that is designed to inform and inspire action among global audiences, particularly young people. Our educational programming cultivates a vibrant international community of emerging leaders, fostering in its members a sense of global citizenship and a commitment to ongoing collaboration for positive change.
