Britain has a serious economic growth problem, which is leading to lower living standards, degraded politics, and unmanageable fiscal burdens. Unless we develop a proper understanding of the problem and the political economy challenges involved in addressing it, the 2030s are likely to be a third consecutive 'lost decade' for Britain's economy.

The purpose of this project is to develop precisely that understanding; to educate opinion-formers, students, and the public about it; and ultimately to change the climate of opinion in a way that leads to real pro-growth policy change.

This is primarily a research project that will seek to achieve the following objectives:

1. Develop a clear understanding of Britain's growth problem and the inadequacies of existing thinking;
2. Identify barriers to economic growth across a range of policy areas; and
3. Evaluate and draw lessons from other pro-growth reform efforts in Britain and overseas.

Our research will be turned into three books, two special reports, and ten thematic research papers. These publications will form the basis of a concerted and ongoing promotional effort, including press releases and media briefings, op-eds and broadcast appearances, and a stream of digital content.

Our goal is to reach a wide audience while also exerting the greatest possible intellectual influence on opinion-formers, talented young economists, and other researchers. These groups will be targeted via conferences, roundtable discussions, and panel events, helping us to build an intellectual movement around our ideas.
