On Point, the nationally syndicated public radio program produced by WBUR and distributed by American Public Media, seeks to answer the questions of what binds us together in humanity and how we, as lay people, can better understand our shared existence. To address these questions, the On Point production staff will research, report, and produce two dozen 48-minute-long live broadcast episodes also to be released in podcast format, each diving deeply into an aspect of The Human Condition. Episodes will include interviews with experts and often feature voices of people with direct experience. Topics will range from the medical and scientific to the cultural, philosophic, and spiritual.
At a time of increasing divisiveness and polarization, this project is needed to help underscore what unites us. On Point’s episodes on The Human Condition will reach more than 2 million broadcast listeners and 80,000 podcast listeners across the country each week. Each richly reported episode will educate, inform, and occasionally challenge audience members to think deeply about an issue and consider it from a different perspective. On Point will empower listeners to use what they learn to make thoughtful, fact-based decisions for themselves, their families, and their communities.
