Karen Miller is the Foundation’s Chief Financial and Operating Officer and oversees finance, accounting, human resources, facilities, program operations, grant operations, and information technology.
Prior to joining the Foundation, Ms. Miller spent almost 14 years at the Annie E. Casey Foundation where she was Director of Finance and Chief Compliance Officer. Before moving to philanthropy, she spent 20 years in the healthcare information technology sector in roles ranging from Controller to Chief Financial Officer. She is the past President of the Foundation Financial Officers Group (FFOG), a nonprofit organization comprised of over 400 members, primarily Chief Financial Officers and Chief Investment Officers, from private foundations across the United States. Ms. Miller has served on the FFOG board and in other capacities and has been recognized as a FFOG Thought Leader.
She holds a Bachelor of Science in Business from California State University, Northridge. Ms. Miller is recognized by the Virginia Board of Accountancy as a Certified Public Accountant and by the Institute of Management Accountants as a Certified Management Accountant. She also serves on the Finance Committee of the Philanthropy Network Greater Philadelphia.
In 2017, Ms. Miller was named one of Maryland’s Top 100 Women by The Daily Record.
