This grant will establish a research program on Indian economic policy at the Columbia Business School. Led by the renowned Indian economists Jagdish Bhagwati and Arvind Panagariya, the program will examine India’s remarkable economic growth and its transformation into a modern economy by establishing a data center, conducting field research, building an extensive website, and providing advice for economic reforms to policy makers in India. The program intends to expand into a permanent center for the study of the Indian economy at Columbia through an endowment to be raised during the next four years.
