Description

This grant launched four annual prizes in honor of, respectively, Anne Templeton Zimmerman, Harriet Tubman, Frederick Douglass, and William Wilberforce for work in the anti-slavery movement and the promotion of freedom. The prizes are intended to generate the public support, political will, and the social and economic resources needed to end the institution of slavery and the unspeakable suffering it causes to body, mind, and spirit.
