Grantee(s)

Description

This grant supported a series of investigations concerning the relationship between prayer and the physical body. The first study focused on how the body is positioned during various prayer acts. The second study sought to discern any unique qualities associated with bodily movement (walking) during prayer. A final study examined the relationship between prayer and sight and sound. The aim of this research program is to develop and evaluate a series of prayer-measuring scales that are reliable across samples, demonstrate convergent and divergent validity, and are theologically sensitive and relevant.
