After submitting your Full Proposal, and during the Program Staff Review, the Program Staff may request additional information from the applicant.

REQUEST FOR MORE INFORMATION Steps 7 thru 9

  1. Letter is sent to Applicant Requesting More Information
Over the years, the Foundation has used the term "sending a bounce letter" to refer to the process whereby additional information is needed from the applicant. While the Foundation recognizes that an applicant strives to submit a full and comprehensive proposal it has been our experience that before we can make a funding decision on the merits of the proposed project we often request additional pertinent information from the applicant. For example, research proposals often do not include a detailed and comprehensive data analysis design. Some proposals do not clearly describe the project timeline. In some cases requesting this new information will necessitate that the applicant "revise and resubmit" a new full proposal. In other cases the applicant is invited to simply respond to the questions raised in the "bounce letter" via a separate letter

  2. Applicant's response is forwarded to the Foundation.
The Foundation does not have a set time upon which the applicant must respond to our bounce letter. We recognize some of the information we've requested will take time for the applicant to gather and format. However, a long delay in providing this additional information to the Foundation will increase the time it will take for a final decision on the merits of your proposal. We encourage all applicants, therefore, to respond to our request for more information within four weeks.

  3. Program Staff reviews the new information or revised proposal.
The Foundation's Program Staff decide whether the proposal should be declined or proceed to the next step in the review process. If the proposal is declined, a letter is sent to the applicant.
