After receiving the Foundation's invitation to submit a Full Proposal, it generally takes a minimum of four months from when you submit your Full Proposal until when the John Templeton Foundation reaches a decision. Please allow adequate time for our review when planning the start date of your project-related activities.

The best way an applicant can ensure that the Foundation will decide as quickly as possible on whether to fund a proposal will be to 1) submit a complete proposal; 2) communicate clearly how your proposal aligns with the Foundation's Mission, Core Themes and Funding Areas; and 3) respond quickly when the Foundation requests additional information.

This section of the website will outline the process the Foundation follows when considering an Invited Full Proposal for funding. All proposals undergo the same consideration regardless of your past grant history with us, the amount requested, or the timeline for your proposed activities.

FULL PROPOSAL (by Invitation Only) - Steps 1 thru 4

  1. Invited Full Proposal is received by the Grants Management Department.
  2. Is it a complete proposal?

  3. YES: proposal moves forward to the next step in the review process.
NO: a letter is sent by the Foundation to the applicant explaining what information is missing.

  4. Proposal is entered into the Foundation's database.
  5. An acknowledgement letter is sent to applicant.

  6. This acknowledgement letter will be sent by the Foundation within two weeks of receiving your proposal.
