Mitch Abblett, Ph.D. is a psychologist
who has worked in outpatient, inpatient and residential treatment
settings with a variety of clinical populations – from
combat veterans to elderly patients with mental health issues
to children and adolescents with severe and dangerous behavioral
difficulties. He currently works in a residential treatment
setting with adolescents and developmentally delayed adults.
In addition to his clinical work, Mitch enjoys writing creative
fiction and nonfiction. In his writing, he is particularly
drawn to the exploration of characters who demonstrate the
courage to struggle with themselves in pursuit of a deeper
personal identity – a purposeful life. He lives with
his wife, Katy, in the Boston area.

A combat veteran has carried a heavy burden
of pain and guilt since the Vietnam War. In the years since
the war, he has found atonement and a mission in life through
his work as a photographer, and through teaching others about
the power of caring, empathic contact with others.
