The Power of Purpose

Fiction
TolstoySome of the most vivid images of purpose come from works of fiction. Characters who are driven against all odds to accomplish something continue to inspire us with their words and deeds centuries after their creation, and long after we have closed our books. Other fictional figures eventually come to realize their own purpose in the world after life-long searches. And many come to find purpose in what they originally found to be a chaotic universe.

Fiction can provide us with a unique perspective on the souls of our fellow human beings and we may even learn from fiction how others experience purpose. Sometimes the very language of a story is enough to inspire us to search for purpose in our own lives. A combination of moving prose, penetrating observations about human nature, and an account of the power that purpose can have on characters will make a successful fiction entry.
