$50,000 Kairos Prizes for Spiritually Uplifting, Religious Screenplays Announced at Screenwriting Expo 4

Los Angeles, Calif. — The John Templeton Foundation and MOVIEGUIDE®, a family guide to movies, formally announced its $50,000 Kairos Prizes for Spiritually Uplifting Screenplays this weekend at Screenwriting Expo 4 at the Convention Center.

Dr. Ted Baehr, founder, publisher and executive producer of MOVIEGUIDE® Magazine, Radio and TV, said the three top prizes in the contest will be awarded to first-time screenwriters. The Kairos Prizes are designed to encourage the production of movies that are wholesome, uplifting and inspirational and that result in a greater increase in either man's understanding or love of God.

Dr. Baehr said the top three winners will receive $50,000 in prizes, with the top winner receiving $25,000. The top winner's script will also be read by top studio executives at Disney, DreamWorks, Fox, and Universal.

The winners will be announced at the 14th Annual MOVIEGUIDE® Faith & Values Awards Gala and Report to the Entertainment Industry on March 2 in Beverly Hills.

The deadlines for sending qualifying scripts are November 25, 2005 with an entry fee of $50 and Jan. 6, 2006 with an entry fee of $75.
