Ninety years ago, Lawrence J. Henderson, Professor of Biological Chemistry at Harvard University, pioneered research focused on the question of whether the nature of the physical world could be described as "biocentric." Although this remains a major, deep issue in biochemistry, it has been investigated relatively little. Thus, the question remains: Do analog domains for discovery exist in biochemistry that correspond with "fine-tunings" in physics and cosmology? This question clearly carries central significance for the emerging fields of astrobiology and exoplanetary astronomy/cosmology.
